LAST MOMENTS

Author's note: For those of you who are looking for a good laugh, I'm afraid to say you're in the wrong place here. Unfortunately, I've decided to be serious this week, and I hope you bear with me. I'd appreciate it.

It's happening already. More each day. More and more players, unable to shoulder the added financial burden of flat-rate are removing characters they just can't keep. Let's all be honest here: what's happening is something of a tragedy. Characters we have grown to love, both as owners and friends, are disappearing for good. Some leave with no fanfare, no ceremony, not even a few final farewells. But others leave amid many people, a few, or maybe just one or two close friends.

Last night, I bid farewell to one of my dearest friends in Fed. Although I'm not going to print the name here, take it on my word that she was very important to me. It's a little hard to write about your last moments with somebody you laughed with, cried with, and in general shared your life with, but I want to let any of you out there who may be going through similar events know that you are not at all alone.

And this isn't the end, not by far. Before the end of the free period in Fed, we're going to be seeing more disappearances, more holes in the Quick Who list. I'm not going to go off on a tangent about flat-rate here, not because I don't want to lose my job, but rather because it will do no good for anyone. What's done is done, and those who are gone are gone. All we can do now is the only thing we can.
