Classic Fed Interviews:

A regular event held in Fed over the years has been interviews of prominent players. The events initially concentrated on the highest rank, Duke - hence the name, Duchy Review - but later expanded its remit to cover other ranks, changing its name to Meet and Greet. All the transcripts of these interviews are here:

GENIE/ARIES FED

Before AOL Fed, there was GEnie Fed, which later became Aries Fed. This version of the game had a weekly news bulletin, just like we do now. Here are the all the news bulletins from those years, just as they were published then - typos and all!

COMPUNET FED

The very first version of Federation, starting back in 1988, was Compunet Fed. You can read reports of what happened in those early days:

Fed's First Year

The Making of the Idiot's Guide

Here's some images from the early days of Compunet Fed:

And you can read each of the news bulletins, which were written by Diesel giving her view of life as she saw it from Chez Diesel. They were called Line Noise because in the days before error-correcting modems, line noise was something that seriously affected game-players!

The Line Noise news bulletins were not produced on a regular schedule; they appeared whenever there was anything interesting to report. They were semi-official because they often contained advance information about changes and new features.

Actually, they were written by Fi Craig (who you now know as Hazed) who at the time was just a player called Pugwash.
