 A POINT TO CONSIDER

Apparently somewhere along the line
something happened, and I'm not sure what. However, I
have noticed that as of late in the game, annoying other
people for the sake of annoying them has become a major
pastime. What's going on? I mean that as a serious
question; I don't understand. There was a wonderful
concept invented way back when called consideration, and
I fear we may be losing sight of it.
I'm not going to single anyone out
here, nor am I going to go off on a tangent about
something. No, all I want to do is just ask for everybody
to take a step back and think.
A good example is the recent rash
of "dumpings." The alleged dumpers are saying
that it's just sound business practice, and the alleged
dumpees are saying that it's a punitive attack. My
friends, we need to come to some sort of understanding.
If something you're doing is causing distress to someone,
stop if you can. And if this dumping is going on (I'm not
going to say it is or it isn't; I'm going to keep an open
mind), let's knock it off. Fed is a social game. We don't
need a repeat of the epic Battle of the Uncles. For those
of you who don't know my family, the Battle was between
two uncles who were determined never to spend a dime on
professional help for any problem. In the end, uncle one
set fire to his garage trying to kill termites, and uncle
two managed to actually get his car stuck to his driveway
by parking on it before it had cured.
I realize that to request everybody
to be perpetually nice would be impossible. We don't have
enough Prozac on hand to do it. However, we can eliminate
the activities we know are causing grief. Please, let's
all take steps to get along.
That's all I ask.
