REAL LIFE NEWS: GAMES MAKE YOU DRIVE FASTER

by Hazed

Another chapter in the "computer games are evil" saga, as a survey suggests that more than a third of young drivers are more likely to drive faster on the roads after playing on-screen driving games. And 27% of motorists aged under 24 admitted more risk-taking on the road after a gaming session. A quarter even said they imagine they are in a driving simulation game while driving for real (apparently men are the worse offenders for this; why am I not surprised?)

On the other hand 34% of the drivers think computer games can improve real-life driving ability.

The survey questioned 1,000 drivers on behalf of British driving school BSM. The company's road safety consultant Robin Cummins said the results showed an 'indisputable' link between gaming and dangerous driving. He said, "With more than 200 young people killed each year due to speeding alone, it's crucial that they learn to 'keep it real' on the road."

Next they will be saying that playing Grand Theft Auto makes you more likely to kill people and steal their cars!
