Dot Matrix's Xmas Bulletin No 2

Hello Fedders, it's Dot Matrix here with another special bulletin telling you all about what Bella has been doing. No, not celebrity gossip - the Star isn't the sort of paper to concern itself with who has been seen out on the town with whom, who said rude things about another famous being, or which starry couple's relationship is on the rocks. Although, I did here a rumour that famous holo star Brix Chanterel - you know, the hunky one who is always posing without his shirt on - has been seeing rather a lot of a certain cute little alien from... but that's not relevant to this bulletin!

POPULATION FIGURES NOW CORRECT

There is much wailing and gnashing of teeth (or equivalent) as CEOs suddenly find their factories cannot get the workers needed to produce the goods. Why? Because the planetary population figures have now been sorted out so all the extra factories that were built to take advantage of the bug are having to fight for a much smaller pool of workers.

The fix went in at yesterday's reset, and at first the current numbers of workers showed up on many planets as a large negative number, but as each factory came to the end of a cycle and released these non-existent workers back into the pool, things straightened themselves out. Bella had to do an extra reset to fix a problem whereby builds which should have increased populations were not being taken into account, and therefore, the workthings were finally as they should have been.

Incidentally, when we talked to Bella about the extra reset yesterday, and the bug which made it necessary, she said - and this is a direct quote - "The code was perfectly correct, it just didn't work properly." That sounds like "The operation was a perfect success, but the patient died!". She then went on to explain that she had forgotten to take the code out of test-mode, in which only the builds on the moon were counted.

PENSIONS BUILD AVAILABLE

POs can now provide old age pensions to their senior citizens, ensuring that they can afford food and shelter even if they are too decrepit to work. This reduces discontent. The command is 'BUILD PENSIONS' and it reduces disaffection by 1%, up to a maximum of 10%. You can see the full details at http://www.ibgames.net/fed2/guide/builds/social3.html.

The next build will be the first of the housing projects. Yes, you need to provide your workthings somewhere to live!

ACCURATE DISAFFECTION FIGURES

The figure for disaffection which is shown on your planet display should be correct now - the game is supposedly taking into account all of the builds that affect disaffection, both positively or negatively. You will note that I am not making any promises; experience shows that as soon as Bella announces she's got something working right, it's going to break! If you think your disaffection figures are not correct, please email feedback@ibgames.net with a capture.

The effects of disaffection - rioting, properly destruction and so on - are still not implemented which is a relief, but rumor has it that it won't be long now. In fact, the word on the slideway is that it's going to be turned on on Christmas Day! How's that for a nice present?

That's all I have for you for my second bulletin, so I shall now go back to my knitting. I am making an anti-matter pullover to give to an old enemy - it's not easy knitting with anti-wool but I have got quite skilled at it!
