DUMB TEENAGERS OF THE WEEK: TRAPPED IN A PRISON CELL

The fire brigade were recently called to a prison to help two people escape. Not something they would usually do!
The prison in this story was the Joliet Correctional Center in Illinois which has been closed for 15 years. The two inmates were teenagers who had broken into the abandoned jail and were exploring it, when one of them accidentally locked herself into one of the cells.
The firefighters managed to free her from her imprisonment by using a flathead axe to knock out two large concrete blocks that the cell shared with an adjoining cell. This allowed the teen to climb through to freedom.
The two teens have been given a ticket for trespassing by the Illinois State Police.
