REAL LIFE NEWS: PIZZA (OR LACK OF IT) SAVES LIFE

by Hazed

Staff at a Domino’s pizza saved the life of one of their regular customers, when they noticed he had stopped placing orders for food.

Kirk Alexander was a regular customer at Domino’s in Salem, Oregon, ordering pizza every day. So when staff realised they had not made any deliveries to him in 11 days, they were concerned.

“He orders every day, every other day,” said store manager Sarah Fuller. “His order pops up on the screen because he orders online. So we see it come across the screen and we’re like, ‘Oh, Kirk’s order.’“

She quizzed the delivery drivers and they confirmed that they hadn’t seen any orders come through for Alexander. They phoned him but got no answer. They knew he suffered from health problems so Fuller asked one of the regular drivers, Tracey Hamblen, to go to Alexander’s house and check that he was ok. Hamblen saw that the lights and the TV were on, but there was no response when he knocked.

He called emergency services, who found Alexander on the floor of his house, calling for help. He’d suffered a stroke, and the authorities said he was in “immediate need of medical attention.” The Domino’s staff had saved his life.

Alexander is now in hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition. I hope that Domino’s delivers to the hospital.
