REAL LIFE NEWS: TAKE A POKEMON TAXI RIDE
by Hazed
Continuing the theme from recent issues of the lighter, brighter side of the Pokemon go craze, a taxi-company in north England is offering to drive hunters around the city.
Street Cars in Manchester are charging a £20 flat fee to take passengers to known Pokemon spawning sites around the city. 12 of their fleet of 600 cars have been dedicated to giving these Pokemon rides, and the company said they had been swamped with enquiries after just a few days.
Naveed Arshad is a company director of the taxi firm, and he explained that it started as a marketing stunt – and then took off. "Quite a few of our staff play Pokemon," he says. "We had the idea that we could use it as a marketing gimmick and it's just exploded."
The drivers offering this service are ones who play the game themselves, so they welcome the chance to catch their own Pokethings while working!
