FEDTERM IS NOT A VIRUS

One player who wanted to try out the latest beta-test version of new FedTerm got a shock when he tried to install it – his virus protection software said the program was dodgy!
The player was using Norton and it claimed that the front-end program contained a virus. He’d been using it without any problems until the new version we released earlier this month, which Norton objected to.
Alan did some research to try to find out what Norton was objecting to, and had this to say:
“Norton themselves say the risk is ‘Very Low’, and actually include the above info on their site. It makes a vague sense, because what it’s looking for is files that have been changed – which, of course, is what the version we put up last weekend does! I suspect it has difficulty figuring out the difference between files legitimately changed, and those changed by malware...”
Alan, Barb and I all checked FedTerm with our various virus detectors and it came up clean. The player spoke to Norton and they checked the file and confirmed the report was a false-positive. They have white-listed it, so it shouldn’t get flagged as a virus in the future on anyone else’s copy.
