MAC FEDTERM – IS ANYONE USING IT?

by Hazed

We need to know whether any of our players are using the Mac version of Fedterm. Here’s why.

Alan continues to work on the new version of FedTerm, and he’s currently fiddling with the code that deals with sound: specifically, the alerts that play when various things happen.

New FedTerm is going to have two types of sound. The first will be the Friends alert, which will work as it did in the old version: you will be able to designate certain players as your friends, and when they log in FedTerm will alert you with a text message and an optional sound.

The other alert will be an interaction alert. This will replace the old alert that sounded when any text appeared on your screen. In new FedTerm it will only sound when a communication is sent – a comm message, a tight beam or somebody in the same room speaking to you – or when someone in the room uses the ‘ACT’ command.

Making this change means he’s had to be careful not to break old versions of FedTerm! He’s able to check this with the old Windows version, but then there’s the issue of the Mac version of the front-end.

This program was ported by a player who did excellent work for us, but isn’t around any longer. Alan doesn’t have a Mac (and can’t afford to buy one – have you seen the prices Apple charges for its kit?) so isn’t in a position to check whether what he is doing breaks stuff for Mac FedTerm.

So, we need to know: is anyone actually using Mac FedTerm right now? If you are please email feedback@ibgames.com and let us know. (Don’t forget to put Fed2 somewhere in the subject line.)

If there is someone out there using the program then you can check everything still works as it should.

But if nobody is using it, then Alan can stop worrying!
