REAL LIFE NEWS: SPACE X ROCKET FAIL
by Hazed
There’s some good news and some bad news.
The good news is that the Falcon 9 rocket which successfully landed before Christmas still fires (mostly) so this proves the boosters can be reused.
The bad news is that the latest attempt to land one of the rockets failed at the very last moment.
The rocket was used to launch a satellite into orbit – the Jason-3, intended to monitor climate. That all went well. Then it was supposed to land again on a floating barge – a more difficult effort that the previous successful touch down on land. But on landing, one of its leg struts collapsed and the rocket toppled onto its side, and then exploded. Click the third link below to see a video of what happened.
But the good news is that everything else about the mission went right.
