REAL LIFE NEWS: IMAGES OF JUPITER’S RED SPOT

The Hubble space telescope has taken some new pictures of Jupiter, and they show that the Great Red Spot is changing.
The Great Red Spot is a hurricane bigger than the size of three Earths that has raged for hundreds of years on the massive planet. The new image of Jupiter shows that the Great Red Spot is shrinking and becoming more circular. It’s colour is changing so it is more orange than red. Scientists can also see a new unique filamentary features in the spot’s core which hasn’t been seen before.
“Every time we look at Jupiter, we get tantalizing hints that something really exciting is going on,” said Amy Simon, a planetary scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. “This time is no exception.”
Hubble snaps images of the outer planets once every year, allowing current and future scientists to see how the giant worlds change over time.
