DUMB COPS OF THE WEEK: THREATENED BY A GARDEN ORNAMENT
by Hazed
Police were called out when a worried passer-by phoned to report a snake “on the loose” in Sutton, south-west London. Sure enough, there was a snake lying on the patio.
Officers kept their distance and watched the snake for a while, which was lying very still outside a block of flats. They didn’t want to get closer to the “venomous adder”.
But then a local resident told them to stop being afraid because the dangerous snake was, in fact, a garden ornament.
Gary Hollins, a 43-year-old who lives nearby, said: “I could have told you it was a fake snake because the paint is peeling off it.”
Oh dear.
