START OF DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME IN US TOOK ME BY SURPRISE LAST WEEKEND

I only noticed just as I was about to publish last week’s Fed2 Star that the clocks had changed in the US. Last Sunday was the start of daylight savings time for most American states. (I believe the only mainland state that doesn’t do DST is Arizona; in addition, the overseas bits of the US (Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands) ignore it as well. Very sensible of them – I wish we could all stop this mucking about with the clocks.
Because the US and the UK don’t change their clocks at the same time, it means we are now out of sync. Since Fed’s servers run on UK time, for anyone in the US (barring the exceptions above) the reset will now take place at 9.00am eastern.
British Summertime starts on March 29, at which point we’ll be back in sync.
