REAL LIFE NEWS: SEE, I TOLD YOU COMPUTER GAMES WERE GOOD FOR YOUR KIDS!

by Hazed

It turns out that computer games aren’t bad for children after all. In fact, playing them for a short period each day could have a positive impact on their development.

A study carried out by Oxford University in England has found that young people who spend less than an hour a day playing video games were better adjusted than those who didn’t play at all.

Good news! Buy your kids consoles right away!

But wait – this result only applies to children who play for less than an hour. Those who use consoles for more than three hours reported lower satisfaction with their lives overall.

The study involved a survey of 5,000 children aged 10 to 15, who were asked to say how much time they spent gaming on a typical school day, using consoles or computers, and who were then rated on factors such as their satisfaction with their lives, how well they got on with their peers, how likely they were to offer help to others and their levels of hyperactivity and inattention.

75% of those questioned said they played video games every day. Those who played for less than an hour each day were most likely to say they were satisfied with their lives, showed higher levels of positive social inactions and had fewer emotion problems and levels of hyperactivity, then those who played no games at all.

The bad news, though, is that those who spent more than three hours playing games were the least well adjusted.

It seems that, as in so many things, the key is moderation!
