WHY DOES THIS PLUTOCRAT HAVE AN EXTRA PLANET?

by Hazed

The dictionary definition of the word unique says: “existing as the only one or as the sole example; single; solitary in type or characteristics”.

So it seems fitting that the star system Unique should have something about it which is truly unique, in that it contains six planets. If players are only allowed five planets in their system, how did Unique end up with an extra one?

The answer is that the PO was allowed to add an extra world because of a screw-up with the fifth one. It was supposed to be a bio planet, and that’s what the owner requested when he submitted the files. But it accidentally got linked into the game as an agri world. To fix that once the planet was in the game would have involved a lot of complicated work, so instead we decided to let the player have it as a bonus agri planet and then put in a sixth world as the bio planet.

Normally I can blame Alan for this kind of error because he has such a bad memory he would never remember who was at fault. But on this occasion his bad memory worked against me: he forgot to delete my email which was the evidence that showed it was me who got it wrong. Dammit, I should have snuck into his computer and zapped it myself!

This sixth planet adds one more point of uniqueness to the player. For the system is owned by pto, whose name is the only one which doesn’t start with a capital letter. This means you can’t get a SpyNet Report on the player.

The player says of this new point of uniqueness: “Being modest in character, my first planet was named Unassuming; the second, Unseen, was named after my quality of invisibility. Thus started the “Un” names.

“The first bioplanet (Unhealthy) represents a place visitors may want to stay away from because of the risks of biohazardous materials, while the first of the plutocrat planets, Uneven, was written to have a bit of fun. To see the results, one needs to visit the planet’s locations.

“Unforgiven was meant to be a second bioplanet, and was simply named for one of the best western films ever made.

“Due to the mix-up in the economy of the fifth planet, and the solution for the sixth planet, the only fitting name seemed to be Unequaled, which is descriptive of the planet’s very existence in the system.”
