REAL LIFE NEWS: DREAM A GENDER-BASED DREAM FOR ME

What do you dream about? The answer is likely to depend on whether you are a man or a woman.
A new study has found that the sexes experience differences in the subject matter of their nightmares. Apparently, women’s bad dreams tend to concern disputes in interpersonal relationships, while men’s are about facing dangers such as war and calamities.
Professor Antonio Zadra of the University of Montreal collected 9,796 dream reports from 572 participants over two to five weeks, then analysed their content. He was surprised by how varied the nightmare narratives turned out to be. He’d expected the dreams to involve a lot of chase scenarios, but they turned out to be a lot more interesting than that.
The results showed that interpersonal conflict was twice as likely to be the subject of women’s nightmares than men. Men’s reports were a lot more likely to involve disasters such as floods, earthquakes and wars. Or stranger things like insect swarms… and even a giant ominous owl!
