PATENT OF THE WEEK: WEAR A COMPUTER ON YOUR HEAD
by Hazed
Here’s a new twist on the idea of wearable computing: a wig that contains a computer. The SmartWig has been patented by Sony and according to their filing it’s not just a design on paper, but has been “demonstrated several times in internal meetings”.
So what does it do? Well, it has “at least one sensor for providing input data, a processing unit… and a communication interface.” These are “arranged in the wig and at least partly covered by the wig in order to be visually hidden during use”.
The wig has sideburns which – I love this bit –contain buttons. So you operate the computer by stroking your sideburns. Genius! Can’t wait for this to go on sale.
