WHEN FIXING A PROBLEM ISN’T POSSIBLE
by Hazed
A new player was a bit confused by the message he saw as he was setting up his account:
Please provide an e-mail address at which we can contact you -(this address will only be used by ibgames and our credit card processing agency)
Well that mention of a credit card processing agency is obviously a leftover from the days before Fed was free. It’s no longer relevant and I can see why it confused the player.
So Alan dug into the code, and took out the mention of credit cards. Job done.
Except... when he tested the new account set-up using FedTerm, he found a problem. FedTerm just stopped at the request for the email address, because it looks for the full line of text. Now it wasn’t receiving the full line, it just waited... forever!
Whoops!
And so Alan had to reverse his change and put things back the way they were. For now, we’ll have to live with a confusing message. But it’s on the list of stuff to sort out when he programs a new version of FedTerm.
