PLANETARY PURGE WARNING

by Hazed

It’s time for us to go through the player database and check who has been absent for a long time. We need to get some of the long-abandoned star systems out of the game, to speed things up a bit when the game fires up, or when some of the background processes go round and check what’s happening on all the planets in the game.

We’re going to be taking out planets and systems owned by players who haven’t set foot (or equivalent) in Fed DataSpace for at least three years.

The people who will be affected by this are business and company owners, who may have factories on planets with missing landlords, landladies or landthings. I advise you to check the owners of the planets where you have sited your planets - use SpyNet Report to see if they are haven’t been seen since Diesel started serving her trademark brew, and if that is the case, think about moving the factory somewhere else. Otherwise when the planets are taken out, you will lose your property, with no compensation.

If you own warehouses or depots, you will also want to check out the owner of the planets they are built on, or you will lose them along with everything contained therein.

POs don’t have to worry about their cartels suddenly vanishing if their Plutocrat hasn’t been around for years - we won’t remove any star systems that are also cartels. Although you might want to think about moving to a cartel with a more active leader anyway!

The systems won’t vanish all in one go, but a few at a time. Also, this isn’t a complete purge of the player database - we won’t be zapping any characters, just taking the planets out of the game, so should a long-absent PO suddenly show up again they will find their character intact, and can ask us to put the planet back in again.
