APP OF THE WEEK: ANSWER THE DOOR USING YOUR PHONE

It’s a slacker’s dream app. You’re lounging on the sofa waiting for a pizza to be delivered. But you don’t want to get up and go to the door. So instead, your smartphone alerts you when the delivery guy is outside, and you can chat to him and then let him in without having to move.
Even better, if you’re not expecting a pizza, you might want to know who is at the door before you decide whether to open it or not. Peepholes in doors aren’t exactly discreet and the possibly unwanted visitor can often tell if you’re on the other side of the door or not. So use your phone to look at who has come calling, and then ignore them if they’re a salesman or a Jehovah’s Witness.
DoorBot is the app that does all this. It connects to your phone via battery operated wi-fi video. What’s more, you can use it even if you’re not at home, so if you’re expected friends or family to show up you can let them in remotely when you’re at work or in the pub.
