IBGAMES WEBSITE HAS A MAKEOVER

If you are reading this issue of the Fed2 Star on the website then you will notice that it looks a bit different. That’s because I have embarked on a revamp of the look of the web pages. I showed you a sneak preview a few weeks ago, and now the final design is unveiled on some of the real pages.
So far, the front page of the website, the current issue of the Fed2 Star as well as last week’s, and a handful of content pages such as the Message from Bella page have been in the beautician’s chair.
More will follow, but it’s a slow job because I have to rebuild each page from scratch. For those who are interested in the technical details, the last time I did a redesign, CSS styles were quite new and Dreamweaver, the software I use to design the web pages, only offered limited support for them. I didn’t really grasp the potential so the old design was a mix of some CSS styles and quite a lot of inline HTML styles.
The new design not only uses CSS styles throughout, it also builds the pages using templates for the common areas such as the menu bar at the top of each page. This means that if I want to change the look of pages in the future, I won’t have to fiddle with each page individually but will be able to change the style sheet, or change items on the template, to have the alterations reflect on all the pages automatically.
But for now, it’s a painstaking job to go through all the thousands of pages on the site and make them over.
