REAL LIFE NEWS: WHEN A SHOPPING CART BECOMES A DEADLY WEAPON

In Sweden, an old man has just been convicted of an assault. His weapon was a shopping cart.

The 89-year-old was on his way into a shopping center just outside Karlskrona, when a woman tried to get through the entrance at the same time. He gestured her out of the way, but she wouldn’t give way and instead gestured that he should be the one to wait. At that point, he rammed his shopping cart into hers, then backed up and did it again.

The collision was so violent that it caused the woman’s cart to hit her in the chest, and caused pain in her ribs. She was understandably upset, so she followed the old man and told him, “Just because you’re old doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want.”

So he punched her in the chest. Charming!

In court, the elderly chap was convicted of assault and fined 1,500 kronor ($222). So that turned out to be an expensive shopping trip.
