ON THE WEB: PREDICTION FAILURES

by Hazed

The world hasn't ended yet, as I am sure you've noticed, despite the prediction that it would be destroyed on October 21, made by the same guy who said it would end on May 21. And March 1995. And September 1994. Oh well, if he keeps on guessing , maybe he'll be right one day.

Harold Camping isn't the first person to make disastrously wrong predictions, as you will see from this top ten. None of the others are quite as apocalyptic as the end of the world, but still, with hindsight, they seem pretty dumb.

For example, there's the economist who predicted that stock prices would never fall, the various people who thought computers would never become popular, the internet would never take off, and the iPhone wouldn't be a success, and the man who failed to sign the Beatles.

Very entertaining!
