REAL LIFE NEWS: WEEKENDS MAKE YOU HAPPY

by Hazed

From the department of researching the obvious, a new study tells us that Americans are a lot happier at weekends than they are during the week.

Well, I wonder why that might be... hmmm... could it, possibly, have something to do with the fact that nobody likes going to work?

Well, maybe. Canadian researchers say the extra happiness experienced at weekends is down to the 1.7 extra hours of socializing that people do on those days. On weekdays, respondents to the study said they only socialized 5.4 hours per day, including phone and email. So it's not so much that we all hate work, as that work interferes with our social lives.

To confirm that it's the people rather than the work itself, workers who described their supervisors as more like a "partner" than a "boss" showed a much smaller jump in happiness at weekends, suggesting they have more fun at work than minions who hate their bosses.

The results came from a poll of 600,000 respondents.
