REAL LIFE NEWS: AIRPORT SECURITY BANS 3-INCH RIFLE

by Hazed

It's not just the TSA in the US that make bizarre decisions about airport security. In the UK, security operatives at Gatwick Airport recently refused to allow a Canadian tourist to carry a three-inch plastic rifle onto a plane.

The deadly terrorist weapon was attached to a nine-inch tall replica of an armed British soldier. Ken Lloyd, a Canadian tourist, had bought the souvenir during a visit to the Royal Signals Museum, paying £135 (about $214) for the model. But it triggered a scanner alarm when his hand luggage went through the scanner, so security intervened. When they took the figurine out of its box, the security staff expressed concern about the firearm, and a supervisor confirmed that it "could not pass" because according to the regulations, a firearm is a firearm.

Even if it's made of plastic and only three inches long.

A Gatwick Airport spokesman later said: "Firearms and items with the appearance of firearms are prohibited." Brilliant. Nice to know we are being kept safe from terrorists using tiny model guns.

You can see pictures of the terrible deadly terrorist weapon here.
