FEDPARDY

Tuesday June 1
by Fancy-Fancy, Gengineer of Toontown

Five Fedizens showed up in Studio 1 for tonight's edition of Fedpardy, with four of them participating, and one watching. Darkecho, Bourbon, Jaybe, and Squeeky all participated, while Sjw watched as part of the audience. I went over the rules for those new to Fedpardy to make sure everyone knew how to play. After that, we took a look at the categories we would be using tonight. They were: Where am I?, Fly Me to the Moon, T-ing Off, and The House Special. Darkecho won the honor of selecting first tonight, and started us off with The House Special for 2.

Darkecho rang in to respond to his selected answer, but didn't get it right, so he lost 2 points on it. He got one of those points back by selecting Fly Me to the Moon for 1, and getting it right. He then selected the 2-pointer in the same category, and Bourbon, Darkecho, and Squeeky all missed it, losing 2 points each. Jaybe then took control of the board by correctly responding to the next answer, the 3-pointer in the moon category, getting his response in just as the "time's up" indicator was beeping. Bourbon then got the 4-pointer to go on the plus side, and started T-ing Off for 3. Darkecho rang in and got that one to erase his deficit. Next, Bourbon got the 2-pointer wrong, erasing his points. Jaybe got the 1-pointer in the category, but then missed the House Special for 1. Continuing with the category, Jaybe found the first Daily Double. He decided to risk the maximum he could at that point, which was 5 points, and this was his answer:

Here, a waitdroid will bring you a large platter of buffalo wings (from the real flying buffalo developed in Rhea Labs). And they don't taste at all like chicken.

Jaybe responded, "Where is starship cantina?", but that was the wrong place. The correct place was Art's Bistro. So that cost Jaybe 5 points and brought us to the half-way break. Darkecho and Bourbon shared the top total of 0, while Squeeky and Jaybe were tied with -2. As Squeeky was sitting out the rest of the game, Jaybe got the first selection of Double Fedpardy.

Jaybe selected House Special for 8 to start Double Fedpardy, but no one rang in to try it. Nor did anybody try the 10-point answer. So Jaybe started the Where am I? category. Bourbon tried, but missed the 2. Darkecho tried and missed the 4, leaving everyone in the hole at that point, and then missed the 6 as well, going 10 under. No one attempted the 8 or 10 point answers in that category. Jaybe still had the selection and selected T-ing Off for 8. He also rang in and got it right to get out of the hole and onto the plus side. He finished T-ing Off for 10, and Darkecho tried the question, but missed. The last answer remaining was the other Daily Double, under Fly Me to the Moon for 10, and it belonged to Jaybe. With 6 points, all his opponents in the hole, and the opportunity to risk up to 10 points, Jaybe risked 5 on this Daily Double, and the answer was:

A lounge has been filled with these for the workers of the colony. It's an opportunity for even the lowest paid workers to be entertained and gamble away their groats.

Jaybe got it right with "What are slot machines?", for 5 more points. That also brought us to the end of Double Fedpardy. Our scores were: Jaybe 11, Bourbon -2, Squeeky -2, Darkecho -20. Jaybe alone advanced to Final Fedpardy with a category of Sol Objects and Mobiles on which to base his wager. Once his wager was in, I had outlined how Final Fedpardy works, and Jaybe verified he was ready, I revealed tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

This mobile used to have a job with the Galactic Administration under the rule of Ming the Merciless, and it will talk about it.

When time was up, we took a look at what he wrote down: "Who is the clerk?" But that wasn't correct. "What is the weeble?" was. Jaybe bet 11 points on Final Fedpardy, which left him with zero, but it didn't matter, as he was this week's Fedpardy champion. I was also given a slithy tove to award to tonight's winner, so Jaybe won that slithy tove. Congratulations to Jaybe! And thanks to everyone else who came to Studio 1 tonight - Darkecho, Bourbon, Squeeky, and Sjw. I hope you'll join us again on June 15, starting at 10.00pm eastern, for our next edition of FEDPARDY! And don't forget the Fed Phrase Game June 8, same time, same station.
