FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday December 8
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

Twitchalt, Squeeky, and Doolittle joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's Fed Phrase Game. Our veteran trio dove right into this game once we set the playing order, which had Doolittle first, Squeeky second, and Twitchalt third. The starting puzzle was 6 word things (8, 7, 3, 2, 3, and 6 letters), with Doolittle starting. He tried a T on his first spin, but it wasn't in the puzzle, turning it over to Squeeky. Squeeky called S (2 for 700 each), R, L, E, N (3 for 750 each), A, D, G, C (5 for 700 each), and finally bought the I's before solving that puzzle - glaciers, icicles and an ice cavern - for 8650 points! Twitch and Doolittle knew that catching up to that might be difficult, but gave it their shots.

The second puzzle was a 4 word thing (7, 2, 4, and 8 letters), and Twitch got his first chance with the wheel. He found S's, R's, a T, E's, and an N, before finding "no L, no L" in the puzzle. Doolittle took over and placed F's, M's, and a G, leaving only vowels, before solving - remains of some graffiti - for 2250 points.

Tonight's third puzzle was 4 word people (5, 10, 2, and 6 letters), and Squeeky was up next to start it. The mouse racked up 4450 points with S's, R's, a T, E's, N's, A's, an L, and the O's before landing on a Lose a Turn. Twitch kept up the pattern of the second player to get each puzzle solving it by filling in the F's, D, and M, then solving - Solar Federation of Miners - for 1000 points.

We had time for a fourth puzzle tonight, and the puzzle was a 2 word thing (11 and 6 letters), with Doolittle up first to start. He found an N and S, before a missing T stopped him. Squeeky found a pair of R's for 100 each, then spun 1000, but couldn't capitalize with a D, as it wasn't in the puzzle. Twitch found two L's and a P for 800, but was stopped by a missing C. Doolittle tried an M, Squeeky a K, and Twitch an H before Doolittle decided to buy the I's, then the A's, and then found a G, but then no F. Squeeky landed on Free Spin, but couldn't pick it up with a B. Nor could Twitch find a W. Doolittle tried buying an O, but there weren't any. Squeeky again landed on Free Spin, but again couldn't pick it up when there were no J's. Twitchalt bought the U's, and then after asking what letters hadn't been called yet, and I found that only E, Q, V, X, Y, and Z were uncalled that round, Twitch spun, landed on 750, and called the Q, leaving only a vowel. Twitch solved the puzzle - equiangular spiral - for 1300 points more.

That brought us to the end of our allotted time. The final scores showed Doolittle in third with 2250 points, Twitchalt edging him out for second with 2300 points, and Squeeky tonight's big winner with 8650 points. Congratulations to all three and thank you for playing. We will have our 2009 Phrase Game finale in Studio 1 on December 22, starting at 10.00pm eastern.
