FEDPARDY!

Tuesday November 17
by Fancy-Fancy, Technocrat of Toontown

I advertised tonight's game of FEDPARDY! and promptly got three players answering the call. Doolittle, Twitch, and Squeeky all came into Studio 1 to test their knowledge of Fed trivia JEOPARDY!-style. Knowing that it was like JEOPARDY! was sufficient explanation for how to play for our players tonight, so we promptly went to tonight's categories. They were: Wild Wild W; Sumatra; GroundHog Days; and Transportation in Fed. The wheel in the studio yielded the highest number and first selection to Doolittle, and he started the game by selecting GroundHog Days for 1.

Doolittle rang in first, but got the response wrong. Twitch rang in afterwards and got it right. Twitch continued with GroundHog Days, and also got the 2 and 3 point answers before Doolittle got the 4 pointer right and started Wild Wild W for 1. Twitch got that one and selected GroundHog Days for 5 to finish off that category. Doolittle tried it, but got it wrong. Squeeky then rang in and got it right to get on the board. Squeeky went back to Wild Wild W for 2, and Doolittle got that one, along with the 3 point answer, and the 4 pointer after Squeeky tried and missed it. Selecting the 5 point answer to finish the first half, all three tried to identify the name of the shipwright on Mercury, but all three got his name wrong to lose 5 points each. That left Doolittle and Twitch tied at 2 for the lead, and Squeeky trailing with -4 at the break.

Squeeky got the first selection of Double Fedpardy as the one trailing, with all remaining answers doubled in value. Squeeky started the Sumatra category for 2 points. Doolittle and Twitch tried that one, but got it wrong, enabling Squeeky to then ring in and get it right. The players continued with Sumatra, with Doolittle taking the 4 point answer, and then finding the first of two Daily Doubles. Doolittle decided to risk just the 4 points he had, and this was the answer:

This cozy pub is more likely named after the Managing Director of the mining company than for the famous Battle of Little Bighorn. It always has at least a few people relaxing there, no matter the hour.

Doolittle responded with, "What is Custer's Last Stand?" to get it correct and double his score. Squeeky got the 8 point answer to get out of the hole and onto the plus side, and our players passed on trying the 10 pointer. That left the Transportation in Fed category, and Squeeky started it for 2. Doolittle got the 2, then the 4 after Twitch missed it, then the 6, and then found the other Daily Double. Doolittle decided to risk just 2 points, and this was the answer:

This mode of transportation is free to take. The cooperative just wants you to get authorization first is all.

Doolittle responded, "What is the hopper?", but that wasn't correct. That doesn't require authorization. The buggy does. That left one answer on the board, Transportation in Fed for 10. Twitch gave it a shot, seeing if he could get out of the hole, but missed it, and no one else attempted it. That brought us to the end of Double Fedpardy, with the scores:

Doolittle - 18
Squeeky - 6
Twitch - -14

Doolittle and Squeeky advanced to Final Fedpardy, but Twitch would not be joining them tonight. To help Doolittle and Squeeky decide how much they wanted to wager, I gave them the category of *In the News *. After they TB'ed me with their wagers, I explained how Final Fedpardy works, and they verified they were ready, I presented tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

This player was the first one to reach the ultimate top rank in Fed II. The same player was also the first one to reach the ultimate top rank in Classic Fed.

After the 60 seconds was up, we started with Squeeky, in second place coming in. The mouse responded with, "who is occy?" That was incorrect, however. Squeeky went for double or nothing, betting all six points, and ended up with nothing.

We went to Doolittle next. His response was, "Who is Oddball?" That was correct! Doolittle wagered 5 points, giving him 23 total, and that made him this week's FEDPARDY! champion.

Congratulations to Doolittle on his victory, and thanks go to all of tonight's players, Doolittle, Twitch, and Squeeky. Join us again December 1 at 10.00pm eastern for our next exciting edition of FEDPARDY!
