REAL LIFE NEWS: IPHONE SAVES WOMAN FROM BEAR

by Hazed

Ok, I know the iPhone is pretty amazing, but a new story shows it can save your life if you get attacked by a large predator. Earlier this summer, a woman called Kris Rowley, who was Chief Information Security Officer for the State of Vermont, was hiking through one of the region's woodlands when she almost became bear bait.

When she realised she was being followed by a bear, and she didn't have any of the things you'd normally use in that situation - a gun, a bear-repellent spray, a pair of rocket-propelled boots - she decided to throw her Apple phone at the bear in the hope of distracting it.

And guess what - it worked! The bear was diverted from her trail, and she was able to escape.

Later, she returned to the scene of her escape to see if she could retrieve the phone. She did find it but, no surprise, the bear had chewed it and it no longer worked.

According to reports, her local Apple store refused to replace the bear-chewed device for free, so she had to buy a new one. I guess the warranty doesn't cover damage by bear.
