REAL LIFE NEWS: IG NOBEL PRIZES AWARDED

Do you know why pregnant women don't over-balance? Some scientists found out why, and for their work they have just been awarded the Ig Nobel prize for Physics at the annual ceremony held at Harvard University.
The Ig Nobels are given out every year to honor achievements that "first make people laugh and then make them think". It's the funny side of science. Amongst the other recipients of the 2009 award are scientists who showed that cows that have been given names give more milk than nameless ones, a group from Switzerland who set out to discover whether being hit over the head with a full bottle of beer is better than being hit over the head with an empty one, and the scientists from Chicago who invented a bra that could be converted into two gas masks (one for you and one for a friend). How practical!
