REAL LIFE NEWS: CRYSTAL BALL BURNS DOWN HOME

by Hazed

Here's another "she didn't see that coming" story. The owner of a 4-inch diameter crystal ball came home from visiting a friend to discover the bauble had torched her flat. 53-year old Kim Yeate from Worle, Somerset in England had bought the £30 glass sphere as an ornament.

The unforeseen blaze was caused by the sphere focusing the sun's rays onto the back of her television, which then exploded, setting fire to her sofa.

The damage caused by the crystal ball is likely to take eight weeks to repair, during which she will have to make do in temporary accommodation. She said, "My life has been totally wrecked by this crystal ball. I've got no insurance and almost everything I owned was in the flat. I used to love looking at the crystal ball and watching the sunlight come through it, but I wish I had never bought it now."
