CRYPTOGRAMS

Monday April 27
by Catspaws

This week started off badly. First that... thing... Arlene made an indecent proposal and Hazed simply -had- to announce it in the Star. For any who have any doubts, my response was "No! Never! Ugh! Eww!" And those are just the responses I can print here. The responses from my kits were even more... colorful. We don't call them the Fire and Ice Kittens for nothing.

Here is my history, for any who don't remember. I am the mate of KaiPanther, the pirate prince of Federation and illegitimate heir to the throne of Ming, though Ming never claimed him. At the moment KaiPanther is... ahem... indisposed... in a Navy brig. Arlene can never compare to my pirate prince.

After the fiasco of the Star, I was dreading Cryptograms, but it turned out to be quite fun. We had four players, which is decidedly better than the two of recent weeks, which enabled us to enjoy ourselves. The theme this week was "N is for NO", another reference to that drag queen! All four players solved this puzzle, with Jezz leading the pack.

Shrevo stalled out on the second puzzle, but the other three players had little trouble finding the answers to the list of commodities.

Guido stalled out on the third puzzle (I think he doesn't care for commands) but the rest of the players had little problem with it.

In the Think Like the Kitty puzzle, Jezz secured her lead, with Dingbat, Guido and Shrevo soling the puzzle as well.

When the scores were tallied, Jezz came in first, Dingbat second, Guido third, and Shrevo fourth. Join me next Monday at 3.00pm eastern for Cryptograms, the brainiest game in Fed. You can also practice for the game by solving old puzzles in back issues of the Star.

Now, excuse me while I go find a ten foot pole...
