SHARE-SUCKING MACRO RULES: A CLARIFICATION

by Hazed

It appears that when I announced a few weeks ago that using share-sucking macros to hoover up all the shares in a brand new company would henceforth be against the rules, I didn't explain it clearly enough. Some player haven't been entirely sure what now constitutes a breach of the rules. So here's a further explanation.

  • The new rule is intended to deal with the problem of one person using a batch of alts, all of which run a macro or trigger designed to buy shares in someone else's company the moment it is created by an IPO.
  • If all the shares in a new company are bought by the same alt "family" then it is an indication that they were using macros to coordinate the purchases.
  • If the new company belongs to a member of the alt family that snaps up all the shares then it is not against the rules.
  • If the new company does not belong to the player with all the alts, then it is against the rules.
  • If one character buys shares in a new company, it is not against the rules. Maybe they used a macro, maybe they were just lucky and got the timing right, it's impossible to tell.

All of these rather convoluted explanations are for a temporary situation: Alan's work on a new style of companies will completely change the way shares are dealt with for new companies. At which point I can tear up this rule, with great relief!
