BASE POPULATIONS AND LONGEVITY BUILDS: A CLARIFICATION

by Hazed

I had an email from a Magnate who was confused about how the longevity build works, and what exactly was meant by the base population. I replied to him and he was enlightened and unconfused, so I thought I would share my explanation with all of you.

The longevity build looks at the base population, when calculating whether you have built enough to provide full coverage. All planets start with a base population of 1000. Building other stuff to increase the workthings does not increase the base population so doesn't affect the number of longevity builds you need.

However, if you move workers to and from a planet, that DOES change the base population - it's the only thing that does - so the number of longevity builds you need for full cover will also change. Move workers off the planet and you won't need so many longevity builds; move them onto the planet and you will need more.

I hope that clarifies things.
