WHAT'S ON THE AGENDA?

Once Alan has finished with the last of the object display code, he will turn his attention back to the Workbench tools. First up will be a new version of the Map Editor which will allow commands to be put directly onto locations.

Right now, commands of two or more words can be added to a location by using an invisible object as a placeholder. In Sol, we can add single-word commands direct to locations using a bodge - for example, you can 'SPIT' in the Urban Spaceman's Bar on Venus (filthy habit!) and 'SEARCH' in a number of locations to find interesting things or places. The new Map Editor will let these commands be used on player planets as well as in Sol, in conjunction with events.

After that, he will turn his attention back to the Event Editor for players which has been in the pipeline for a long time!

And then, it'll be time for the rest of the leisure builds, and the code that will allow the next promotion - along with the introduction of duchies. That gives you something exciting to look forward to.

Now, it's no good you asking how long any of this is going to take - I'm not falling into the trap of trying to predict that. It'll be ready when it's ready. In fact, there's no guarantee that things will be done in exactly this order, because when Alan sits down to code something, anything could happen! But at least it gives you some idea of what to expect.
