FEDERGORIES

Thursday November 6
by Angelfowl

This week, a whole bunch of players tuned in for Federgories: Andrew, Tenabutter, Veexe and Dopplershift started the game, then Dinger, Jewells and Shrevo joined in later. I started out by recapping the rules for those that were new to the game, and gave everyone a shock by explaining that this time things were going to be a bit different: all of the starting letters for the categories would be the same - Z.

In round one, I asked for Animals beginning with Z. Two people got their answers in before the time limit, and they both said the very predictable zebra so cancelled each other out. No points scored!

Next, I was after Food, with once again the starting letter being Z. Flummoxed, the players could only think of zucchini, canceling out again and leaving the scores at zero all round (although they did all come up with different spellings for it).

They were now beginning to see how difficult I was making things for them:

Our next round was a Fed-related round, and I wanted planet names beginning with Z. Finally, not everybody matched: although Tenabutter and Andrew both came up with Zidon, Dopplershift said Zanzibar and got the first points of the evening.

Next, with Musical Instruments, the players came up with two answers, zylophone and zither - but two of them got each so they cancelled out, which meant I didn't have to point out that the first actually starts with an X: xylophone!

Finally, I asked for something resulting in unique answers: Cartoon Characters. Dopplershift said Zero, Andrew said Zoobee and Tenabutter said Zolifica.

In the next round we were back to Fed things, and I asked for systems. Again, I got back three different answers: Andrew said Zerahl, Tenabutter said Zylon and Dopplershift said Zodrax.

The players were starting to get the hang of all the Z words now, so when I asked for Movies, their responses were: Andrew, Shrevo and Tenabutter said Zoolander, cancelled each other out, Jewells said Zathura, Dopplershift said Zarathustra and Veexe said Zorro.

After Cities, we moved onto the last Fed-related round: players starting with Z, not so difficult as some of the earlier rounds. Most came up with different names and got points (since alts don't cancel each other out!).

Finally, for the bonus round we dispensed with the starting letter but kept with the Z theme because I asked for 10 things you would say or do to a snoring person. Andrew got confused and thought he still had to give answers starting with Z, and by the time he'd had that explained to him, it was too late for him to come up with a whole lot of answers. The other players came up with:

Shrevo, "shake, kick, tickle, kiss"
Tenabutter, "jab, nudge, pillow on face, kiss, roll over, tickle, ask to leave room, shake"
Andrew, "zapp em, zip em up,"
Jewells, "pour water on, give nose strip to, slap, curse, leave, prod, turn, smuther, kick, push"
Veexe, "push them out of bed, record them then play it back the next day, poorcold water on them, wake them up with a louder fake snore, put a clothes pin on their nose"
Dopplershift, "hey, wake up, stop snoring, sheesh, zip it, put a sock in it, are you dead?, it draws flies"

Adding up all the scores... drumroll... the results were Veexe in third place with 7 points. Tenabutter and Jewells tied for second place with 9 points each. And in first place, the winner this week with 13 points... Dopplershift! He won a valuable slithy tove.

Everyone had fun, even Andrew:

Join us next week for another game of Federgories, every Thursday at 10.00pm eastern.
