ANTON GALLAGHER ANNOUNCES CHARM RELAUNCH

In the mother of all u-turns, Gallaghers of Earth has announced the relaunch of their line of exclusive charms. The first of the new series will go on sale next weekend.

Gallaghers introduced the concept of charms several years ago, items of jewelry intended to be dangled from the TenBrane keyring for which they hold the exclusive contract. Each charm sold for a short period of time, and proved extremely popular - today you still see people proudly displaying their feather charm, the tin foil hat, or the tiny laser BBQ.

While nobody disputes that Gallaghers is the only emporium licensed to flog the keyring, a bitter war erupted between the owner Anton Gallagher and Diesel, the proprieteuse of the bar on Mars, when she allowed independent craftspeople to sell their own charms at special events, for example the St Patrick's Day shamrock. His attempt to sue her failed, and in the end he pulled out of the charm business completely.

Critics speculated that he had run out of inspiration for new charms and was using his row with Diesel as an excuse to stop having to come up with new items for sale each month. Others suggest that producing the tiny yet detailed charms was so labor-intensive that even charging a slithy a time meant they were not cost-effective. Whatever the real reason behind Anton's decision to stop selling them, he's changed his mind now.

The exact nature of the first of the new range of charms has not been disclosed yet, but Anton told our newsdroid, "It's something really special that will appeal to all those who love technology, gadgets, and big science projects. I guarantee you'll love it." We'll have to wait and see when it's unveiled in a week's time!
