PLANET HOPPING REVIEW

Solus in the Fringe System
Florin in the Goldman System
by Trilleth

Another day, another planetary groat earned by someone else for my spending pleasure... and I wanted to spend lots of them. I've already bought everything available on Siryn, so I headed out to find new planets to plund... er, bless with my charming presence.

SOLUS

My first stop was the Solus Station, in System C-4172. At least, that's what my computer insisted on calling it, even though my travel guide was absolutely certain it was the Fringe System. What-EVAH.

Where was the shopping?? The people? The sights? Nasty bulkheads and such do not count as scenery. Okay, the canteen (what kind of a name is a canteen? I don't want to DRINK my food!) was lovely, but everyone insisted I pay for my food, even though lots of people didn't have to pay. Very unfair.

I finally got to the central hub of the station, only to be told firmly (and sometimes quite without a shred of courtesy) that I couldn't go any further. No bed. No water. No shopping!! I stalked out in a huff and vowed never to return... unless I forget that there's no shopping.

Food: 9. Have to admit, the Grayson Corporation went all out on its canteen, but only employees get the freebies, keeping it from a perfect 10.
People: 5. There are people, but they are quiet, worried, gruff or downright rude. You'd think free food and drink would keep 'em a little bit happy.
Bed: 1. I was told there's a residential area. Going to guess there are beds there. But I was also told I couldn't go there. What's that all about?!
Water feature: 0. Nope. Not a one. Hmph!
SHOPPING: 0. They didn't want my groats? Wel, I'll just go elsewhere, then. *raspberries*

OOC: Well-written but still somewhat basic. I can see possible development in the future. :)

FLORIN

Okay, how can a girl lose out on shopping in the Goldman system? It practically screams money. I headed that direction first and, if I was a bit disheartened by the frequent mention of business and wo&%, I tried to ignore it, but it was everywhere? Is this all that Zarquad thinks about? We might have to reconsider our association.

I did like the business lounge, except for... er, especially for the mention of Sulawesi/Kona coffee. (Doesn't ANYONE serve hot chocolate?)

Bored to tears with all the evil stuff being mentioned, I resorted to desperation and read one of the many books lurking about. It was actually well-written, so I perused the others as well.

Food: 8. Nice food and good company in the business lounge. I think that was my favorite spot on the whole planet, in spite of... er, because of the coffee.
People: 7. Plenty of people, all very friendly. Most of them were Ferengi, but I won't hold that against them.
Bed: 0. Do Ferengi never sleep? I mean, really. I need a bed to stay on a planet.
Water feature: 7. There IS a swamp. That's water. Mostly.
SHOPPING: 0. ARGH! I want to go shopping! Someone put in a mega-shopping center, please??

OOC: Well-desc'd, very thorough, and hints of a future puzzle. Worth a return visit. Look for ALL the locations.
