REAL LIFE NEWS: INAPPROPRIATE USE OF TECHNOLOGY

by Hazed

Technological advances can open up possibilities and allow all kinds of fun. Unfortunately, it's not always legal fun. Teens with a techy bent are using Google Earth to find party venues... in strangers' swimming pools.

These pool-crashers are using aerial shots of the UK to identify houses with swimming pools, or at least paddling pools, and then using Facebook to organize an uninvited party in the pools. Owners of several houses with pools have allegedly returned home to find teenagers romping in their swimming pools, or the debris from earlier visits: beer cans, cigarette butts and other nastiness.

Now, whether this is a real phenomenon or just tabloid journalism hysteria, I don't know. Frankly, I wouldn't have though the weather had been nice enough in the UK lately to make any kind of pool party attractive, illicit or otherwise. You can read the original article here.
