ROLE-PLAY CLASS

Sunday, June 1
by Catspaws

In the last week or so, I've noticed that many old Classic players from AOL and pre-AOL days have been returning. It is refreshing to see all these old faces in their new forms, and I welcome each and every one of you to Federation 2.

There are quite a few changes in place since the old Classic days of Federation and, since much of my class were returnees, I tried to focus on a few of these. There were a few complaints about having to pay to change clothes (funny, I remember paying out quite a few groats in clothing shops!), but we soon had everyone dressed and, for the most part, mooded up. There were quite a few delicious and creative moods, such as "I've upped my mood, now up yours" and "Notebook and Pencil at the ready."

Diesels is a great place to do a role-play class on events, because of the wealth of role-play objects and events. I first did a demonstration of the piano using my cat walk across the keys while we discussed Diesel's past. This led into a discussion and demonstration on how to talk to a mobile. For those who don't know, you say the mobile's name and follow it by a question, such as DIESEL TELL ME ABOUT YOUR BAT. There are a lot of talkative mobiles around Sol, including those used for puzzles and quests. Try them for yourself. One reason the quests are in place is to teach you how to talk to mobiles. The adventurer rank also introduces you to objects, events and mobiles as you ride the Venus shuttle, get authorization from Tracey, and manipulate the touchpads and movement

discs on Sumatra and Mars. For those of you doing this rank, make note of all the new and interesting things you find in your travels. It'll make the rank less tedious. (And, don't forget to map!)

I showed everyone the way to the roof garden and how to use the fireworks. This is a good lesson in figuring out what object is available and its potential. We learned how to get, examine, and use these objects to create quite a show. We learned that the fireworks have to stay on the rooftop. We can't pocket them and set them off in the bar to annoy Diesel. We also discussed role-play uses for the fireworks, such as parties, celebrating a new rank, or celebrating the completion of AKs. There's even food available! The Titan ski lodge is a good place for a theme party, as well as a safari to the Earth Wilderness.

So everyone remember that Fedspace is also a social place, and try to find time this week to gather new and old friends around you!
