REAL LIFE NEWS: WHY COMPUTER GAMES ARE DANGEROUS, PARTS 4,256 AND 4,257

by Hazed

As if we needed any more convincing that computer games are a menace that should be banned to save our society from certain ruin as they bring civilization crashing down around our ears, here are two more stories demonstrating the horrors they can bring about.

First, we have the story about how a games machine caused an enormous amount of damage in the real world. Blowing things up in the virtual world is all very well, but this baby decided to turn its attention to the real life infrastructure in which it was situated. Yes, an Xbox burnt down a house.

The Xbox 360 allegedly caused over $100,000 worth of damage to the owner's house in Little Rock, Arkansas, after the console's power brick caught fire. You can read the story and see pictures of the damage caused here. There's even a video of the news report. Watch it and be warned!

As if that wasn't enough, we have yet more proof that violent video games can turn us all into blood-crazed killers, as the release of the new game Grand Theft Auto IV caused one man to stab another!

The incident happened as they both queued up to buy copies of the new release from a games store in Croydon, on the outskirts of London. Onlookers watched as a hooded male stabbed another in the head and neck. Police haven't yet confirmed a motive for the assault, but it's thought that the two men were just rude to one another. Perhaps one of them tried to queue-jump!

Add this to the news that an 18-year-old had his jaw broken when he was mugged for his new copy of GTA IV which he had just bought from a Blockbuster store, and it's clear that this game really is responsible for all violent acts in the world, ever, and should be banned immediately. At least, that's the tack anti-GTA IV are taking, jumping on these incidents to prove that the game is just too violent to be allowed.

Of course, if they are right, then clearly we should never bring back ship fighting to Fed2 because it would turn you all into monstrous real life killers. And that would be bad.
