FEDERGORIES

Thursday February 21
by Trilleth

Feeling a bit scattered tonight, I nonetheless greeted Andrew, Bubba, and Natemanop in Godot's Snacks on Earth for tonight's Federgories' game. Later someone reminded me that Federgories is traditionally played on a channel, which will resume next week.

Round one asked players for a food starting with L. All three players checked in with acceptable answers - and made me wish that I'd eaten more for dinner. The second round was movies starting with the letter S. Again all three players had original answers, with Southpark: The Movie, (The) Stupids, and Shakiest Gun in the West. Still tied, we moved onto verbs starting with D in the third round. All three players kept the score tied for this round and the fourth, where I asked the players for something starting with C that you would find in the kitchen, yielding colander, cabinet, and corn.

The fifth round finally saw our three-way tie broken, as I asked for drinks starting with A. Andrew and Natemanop both offered apple juice, cancelling each other out, while Bubba suggested an Alabama Slammer. After a small discussion about whether to use orange juice or lemon juice - and the flaws in sloe gin - our scores were Bubba, 5, Andrew and Natemanop, 4.

Our first Federgory of the night started the sixth round, looking for players starting with K. Andrew sent in Kayla, who was not online, while Bubba and Natemanop stayed safe, selecting Kallette and Klytos, who were both in the player list. All three players also scored on four-letter words starting with Y, leaving the scores with Bubba one-point in the lead.

The eighth round was our second Federgory of the night, seeking planets starting with the letter S. Natemanop kissed up with Siryn, Bubba submitted Siberian Bear, and Andrew corrected Siamese (a system) with Superland. All three players scored on cities starting with F, so we went into the bonus round with the scores at Bubba, 11, and Andrew and Natemanop tied at 10.

Our bonus round was in honor of Fancy, Fed's own animated cat. Players listed as many cartooon characters as they could in 60 seconds. Natemanop showed a fondness for Simpsons characters to score four points; Andrew tended toward more classic characters for 7. Bubba, however, submitted characters from many cartoons and eras, scoring a whopping 9 points.

In the end, Bubba pulled ahead to win the slithy with 20 points, Andrew held on to second place with 17 points, and Natemanop made an impressive debut with 14.

Thanks to all three players for easing me into my first night hostessing. Join us next week on a proper Federgories channel to play again, Thursday at 10.00pm eastern.
