ON THE WEB: THE LAST PLACES ON EARTH

A century ago, there were still plenty of uncharted areas on the earth, where explorers could go in the knowledge they were the first person to ever set foot in them. But now? Surely humanity has subjugated the whole Earth, and there cannot possibly be any places left that have not been touched by our influence.

New Scientist magazine decided to find out - and they discovered there are, in fact, a whole load of true outposts: unclimbed mountains, unexplored caves, unmapped deserts and uninhabited islands. They've put the details onto a google map so you can see exactly where you would have to go if you wanted to boldly go where no man has gone before...
