FEDPARDY!

We got 4 players for Fedpardy's 2007 finale, with Chriseli, Celerity, Ariadne, and Altair coming into Studio 1. A slithy tove was up for grabs for tonight's winner. As we had a couple new players to the game tonight, I went over the rules of the game for them. Verifying that everyone understood the rules, I then revealed the categories for tonight's game. We had: Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, You... Belong in the Zoo, and H Choo. The players spun the wheel in the studio for the chance to make the opening selection, and Chriseli ended up with that honor.
Chriseli selected Women are from Venus for 1 to start the game, but nobody rang in to attempt to respond to it. She then picked You... Belong in the Zoo for 1. She did attempt this one, but did not come up with the right animal. Altair picked up the first positive points with the 2 point answer in the category, and Chriseli got into the black with the 3 point answer. Ariadne then also got on the board with the 4 point answer, and went back to Women are from Venus for 2. Celerity did well in this category, picking up the 2 and 3 point answers before finding the first Daily Double. Betting 3 points, this was the answer she faced:
You climb onto the back of this legendary beast, and dig your heels into his sides. "Gee up, horsey," you cry. Nothing happens, but then, you woudn't expect it to, because he's dead. Such a vicious, dangerous creature when he was alive, who would have thought he'd ever allow anyone on his back?
It was there that my front-end crashed, and I had to log back into the game. When I did, I saw her response of "What is a T Rex?" But that was wrong. Altair knew it, though, and said it for everyone. The correct answer is Pegasus. Though that cost Celerity 3 points, she made it back and more with the 5 point answer to finish the category. She then started Men are from Mars for 1, but nobody tried it, and we came to the break with Celerity ahead with 7 points, to 4 for Ariadne, 2 for Altair, and 2 for Chriseli.
Altair got the selection to start Double Fedpardy as the one trailing (Chriseli had done so to start the game), and selected Mars for 4. Ariadne tried it, but came up with the wrong location, losing 4 points. Altair selected the 6 point answer, and Chriseli rang in to get it. She then selected Zoo for 10 to finish that category, but nobody tried it. She went back to Mars with the 8 point answer, which Celerity rang in and got. Celerity then started the H Choo category. Ariadne scored the 2 and 4 pointers there, before missing on the 6, along with Chriseli and Altair. Ariadne got those points back by beating everyone else to the buzzer on the 8 point answer and getting it right. She then found the other Daily Double in H Choo, and trailing Celerity 15-8, with one answer left afterwards, decided to bet 4 points. This was her answer:

It took a while, and I even started a timer for 15 seconds to answer, but she came up with, "What are hypnotapes, hides and holos?" just before the buzzer to win her wager. That left our final answer on the board, and Ariadne got it after Celerity rang in but missed it. That brought us to the end of Double Fedpardy, and our scores were:
Ariadne: 22
Celerity: 5
Chriseli: 2
Altair: -4
Ariadne, Celerity, and Chriseli advanced to Final Fedpardy. They got the category of "Insurance, please" to help them decide their wagers. After placing their wagers, and verifying they were all ready, I presented tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:
One of two activities you can undertake on Earth that requires you to undergo a check for being insured before being allowed to participate.
Chriseli, entering in third place, responded "what is explore the wilderness". That was one of the two correct responses. She wagered both her points, doubling her score to 4.
Celerity came up with the other correct response with, "What is bungee jumping?" She bet 4 points, raising her score to 9.
That left our leader Ariadne, who wrote down, "What is jumping off the Galactic Admin building?", another way of saying bungee jumping, a correct response. Ariadne's wager was 3 points, giving her 25 points total, making her our final Fedpardy champion of 2007, and making her the winner of the slithy tove!
