FEDPARDY!

Tuesday July 17
by Fancy-Fancy, Mogul of Toontown

Three players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's Fedpardy, and others tuned in to the channel to watch. Butters, Trilleth, and Stiddleficks came into the studio to play, while Revone, Doolittle, and Lyn tuned in and watched. I went over the rules for our new player Trilleth, cleared up how one rings in ("press buzzer"), and with questions about the game cleared up, took a look at the categories for tonight. They were: Henry the "ate"; Give me an E!; Baby it's Cold Outside; and Number, please. The contestants spun the wheel in the studio for the right to select first, and Trilleth won that honor. She selected Henry the "ate" for 1, and we were underway.

Both Butters and Stiddleficks responded incorrectly to that one, and everyone passed on trying the 2. Stiddleficks finally got a point in the Give Me an E! category, and then selected the Number, please category for 2. Nobody tried that one, but Stiddleficks rang in and correctly responded to the 3-pointer. She selected the 5-pointer in the category next, but both she and Butters responded incorrectly to lose 5 points each. Stiddleficks regained those points with the 1 and 4 point answers in the category to finish it. Stiddleficks chose E for 5 next, but missed, and then selected the same category for 2. Trilleth rang in for the first time tonight and got it correct to close out the first half and take the lead.

All remaining answers had their point values doubled for Double Fedpardy, and Butters got to select first as the one trailing. He started Double Fedpardy with Baby it's Cold Outside for 2. He and Stiddleficks both responded wrong, and Trilleth was able to give the right response to pick up 2. Everyone passed on the 4 in the category, and Trilleth then found the first Daily Double. She decided to make it the 6 points she selected, and her answer was:

Standing in here, you start to shiver; whether it's from the cold, or from the reminders around you that not everyone is lucky enough to have insurance, you don't know.

She responded, "What is the mortuary?", and that was correct for 6 points. Stiddleficks got the 8 point answer in Cold to get out of the hole and onto the plus side. Trilleth picked up the 6 pointer from E, and then Butters got the 6 from "ate" after Stiddleficks rang in but couldn't give a response. Butters then found the other Daily Double. Risking 2 points, he received this answer:

The Xiphosurans of Silk do this with the rare spaceblooms, extracting active constituents for commercial use.

Butters responded, "What is agitate?", but the correct word was "cultivate", so that cost him 2. He also missed on the 10 pointer, and no one else tried it. Stiddleficks collected the 8-point answer from E, and nobody tried Cold for 10. At the end of Double Fedpardy, our scores were:

Trilleth: 16
Stiddleficks: 6
Butters: -14

Trilleth and Stiddleficks advanced to Final Fedpardy, with the opportunity to wager as many of their points as they wanted. To help them decide, I gave them the category of Ships. Trilleth and Stiddleficks both registered their wagers, I reminded them to make sure to phrase their responses in the form of a question, and when both verified they were ready, I revealed the answer:

A ship will sound a warning buzzer when it contains less than this many tons of fuel.

We started with Stiddleficks in second place. Her response was "What is 10?", and was correct. She won her wager of 4 points to up her score to 10 points.

That brought us to Trilleth. Her response was "What is 20?", which was incorrect. The outcome hung on her wager. I slid down the shade to reveal that her wager was 10 points, leaving her with 6. That made Stiddleficks this week's Fedpardy champion!

Congratulations to Stiddlefick on winning this week's Fedpardy! Thanks also to Trilleth and Butters for playing, and to our audience who tuned in for entertainment. Join us again on July 31 at 10.00pm eastern in Studio 1 for our next exciting edition of FEDPARDY! And don't forget the Fed Phrase Game July 24.
