FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday July 10
by Fancy-Fancy, Mogul of Toontown

Three players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's edition of the Fed Phrase Game. Grannyannie, Popcorn, and Devildog came in to play tonight. Since we had new players to the game, I went over the rules and how to play the game. (Think of the old Earth TV game show Wheel of Fortune.) When that was done, and nobody had any remaining questions on how to play, I had the players spin for position. Grannyannie got the highest number to go first, followed by Popcorn, and then Devildog. So Grannyannie got to start tonight's first puzzle, which was a 5 word thing (6, 12, 9, 5, and 4 letters).

Granny uncovered the T's, A's, N's, R, E's, and I's before picking an S not in the puzzle. Popcorn took over and added the G's, D, and for a free spin, the L's. She tried a V next, but that wasn't in the puzzle, and Devildog took over. Devildog spun a Bankrupt, and Granny got the puzzle back. She added two P's for 600 each, bought the O's, and found three C's for 1000 each, then solved - exotic, hallucinogen-producing, plant life - for 5000 points.

Our second puzzle was 4 word things (7, 3, 9, and 6 letters), and Popcorn got to start it. It turns out that she also finished it, maintaining control of the puzzle throughout. She chose the R, T, N's, I's, S's, A's, E's, G's, D, O's, and H's, leaving only two blanks, and then solved - hooting and hammering noises - for 5500 points.

Tonight's third puzzle was a 3 word place (5, 6, and 6 letters), which Devildog got to start. This time he actually got to call some letters, and placed the L, S, N, E's, G, D's, and O before choosing C, which was missing from the puzzle. Grannyannie got the puzzle, and after placing an R and M, decided to solve - Muddy Waters Lounge - for 500 points, creating a tie with Popcorn.

We had time for one more puzzle tonight, a 6 word event (6, 5, 2, 3, 9, and 5 letters). Popcorn got to start it, and carried over a free spin from earlier. Popcorn called T, R, H, and E for 3300 points, and then picked up another free spin with the S's. After buying the O's, she added more points with the F, U's, D's, G's, N, A's, and C, with two free spins available as an insurance policy the whole time. With two blanks left in the puzzle, Popcorn solved - guided tours of the dangerous caves - for 5600 points more.

With the allotted time for the event up, I added the scores, and our runner-up tonight was Grannyannie, with 5500 points. Our big winner tonight was Popcorn, with 11,100 points from two big puzzle solutions. Congratulations to both, and thanks to all for playing. Join us on July 24, starting at 10.00pm eastern for my next edition of the Fed Phrase Game.
