REAL LIFE NEWS: MISSING DOCTOR FOUND MUMMIFIED

by Hazed

You wait all year for a news story about mummies and then two come along at once. Last week I told you about the Spanish mummy in the apartment (see http://www.ibgames.net/fednews/current/official09.html) and now a mummy has hit the headlines in Germany.

The mummy in question is a German doctor who went missing 22 years ago - and now his mummified skeleton has been found under the rafters of his garage roof.

The doctor vanished shortly after his fiftieth birthday back in May 1985. He told his wife he was going out, which he did - and he never came back. Police subsequently searched the house and the garage, but they did not check a large dovecot above the garage.

Recently, his wife decided to renovate the garage roof, and workers got a very nasty shock when they started to remove the layers of asbestos. The remains of the missing doctor were discovered in the roof, with a schnapps bottle and a suicide note next to him. The deceased's wife has been reported as "shocked to learn that she parked her car beneath her husband's body for two decades." Well, she would be!

Police say his death is not being treated as suspicious, although there has been speculation that the East German secret police might be involved because neighbors "reported seeing a dark limousine draw up outside the house several times, and the men inside it pulling the doctor into the car and driving off." Spooky stuff!
