CRYPTOGRAMS

Saturday March 10
by Catspaws

The call went out over the comms: "Join Fed's favorite kitty in 5 minutes on the shiny new planet of Valisk for this week's Cryptograms game. We're playing in Lucy's Legs, or you can play along by joining the Cryptograms channel... Oh, that just sounds wrong."

I think I know why we only had three players this week...

I want to state up front that I'm a peaceful kitty. I don't resort to needless violence, just a mere tail slap where needed. Which is why the following incident was blown out of proportion.

Catspaws lightly thwaps Cloudbase with her tail and drawls, "Tsk, tsk..."
Cloudbase rubs the large bruise on the side of his head and deperately tries to stem the flow of blood.
Catspaws says, "Bah, that was a light tap."
Cloudbase says, "I am a haemopheliac lol"
Joe steps away slowly
Cloudbase left the room and returned...wearing a large plaster on his head form the violent atack by Catspaws
Cloudbase has just arrived.
Catspaws grumbles under her breath and exclaims, "You're going to ruin my reputation, sheesh!"
Cloudbase says, "I would like to converse, but I am severely concussed"

So my mood became...Holding up a paw swearing she never touched Cloudbase, Catspaws has just arrived.

Anyway, on with the game. Fancy wiped the floor with Cloudbase and Joe on the first puzzle, which was much harder than I had anticipated, especially since most of the players on the puzzle list were online at the time. It turns out, there are still players who do not know what the "QW" or "Quickwho" command is...

Things got easier on the second puzzle, with Fancy beating out Cloudbase and Joe. For the next few puzzles, the players finished in that order, right up to the last puzzle, which stumped Joe a bit.

Fancy finished in first place easily, with Cloudbase finishing second and Joe coming in third. We play Cryptograms each Saturday at 4.00pm eastern. If you've always wanted to play and are afraid to jump in, you can always practice by checking out past puzzles in old issues of the Star. Perhaps you can be the one to steal Fancy's crown from him.
