REAL LIFE NEWS: ROBO-PIGEONS

by Hazed

Chinese scientists have invented the remote controlled pigeon - they can control the birds using micro electrodes implanted into their brains.

It's the work of scientists at the Robot Engineering Technology Research Center at Shandong University of Science and Technology. Their announcement says they were able to command the pigeons "to fly right or left or up or down." The implants stimulate different areas of the pigeon's brain according to signals sent by the scientists via computer, and force the bird to comply with their commands.

The team has already successfully experimented on remote controlled mice. News reports say they "hoped that the technology could be put into practical use in future." Hmm... now what practical use is there for a remote control pigeon, I wonder? Maybe you could direct them to poop on your intended target...
